WELCOME TO YOUR
PHOTO CLASS
Winter/Spring 2008

March 28.2008
RECAP: In week 6 we looked at some interesting food pictures and some photoshop techniques. Week 7 will be lighting. I have not been posting the weekly class info due to the nature of my student-led teaching style. I try to cover the same concepts but sometimes the specifics change from class to class, student to student and the opportunities available at each location I teach in. To date, we have all focused on learning technical photography terms, special techniques to bring attention to our subjects, close-up photography, tripod use and most importantly, we are learning what our cameras can or can not do. We have touched on some Photoshop/photo editing skills and I have begun to stress the importance of good photo organization. I have been wonderfully surprised by the creativity of my students!

GALLERY SHOWING
Looking toward the future, we have some very exciting things going on. All my students will prepare themselves for a gallery showing around the beginning of summer. I will select the prints that will be displayed from my students favorite choices. In choosing, the only thing I will be critical about is technical skills in focus. It will need to be perfectly focused if it applies to the subject. This does not include subjects that purposefully have motion blur.By focus, I mean no camera shake. I will discuss these individually outside the class. The number of prints displayed will have a limit, but will probable be determined by what it will cost to make each framed display.

CLASS TOPICS
Going forward, I will discuss the follwing topics yet:

Lighting
Printing
Photoshop/Editing For Prints
Matting & Framing
Film speed/ISO ratings
Lens & Filters & Accessories
Camera Formats

House by Frank Egan

Soon we will hold classes outdoors and we will revist technical terms again. In addition to any assignments I give, I encourage creative submissions!!

SUMMER
In the summer, I will change classes to a more worshop style. I will post the topic, location & fee. I plan to hold these workshops at various locations from parks to beaches to my portrait studio. If anyone is interested in continuing "class" as we now have it, please email me to let me know your interest. This would also be a great time for new students to have a try. I will hold as more advanced workshop for my advanced students with pro model SLR's.

FALL 2008
For those of you interested, I wll be setting up a new schedule for fall worked around the teen group. I will not make that schedule for a few months yet. For the Fall, I will open these classes to all homeschool groups I belong in and may selectively separate classes by skill/interest level

FEEDBACK
Iam interested in your feedback, please take the opportunity to let me know how you or your child is doing. Please let me know if you think a little less or more work at home would be good, and how are the assignments?Let me know any subjects you'd like to see covered and your interest in summer or fall classes. email me
